ManiaMania is a new jewellery label created by two women, Tamila Purvis and Melanie Kamsler. They met when they were both working on Russh Magazine as a stylist and as an art director. Their first collection, ‘Real Life Awaits Us‘ is beautifully molten brass and silver metals, and raw crystal stones made into rings, cuffs, necklaces and earrings. The collection was initially inspired by the film ‘The Holy Mountain’.

Blonde Redhead

When I was looking at the trailer for The Holy Mountain on YouTube I saw this video that is a Blonde Redhead video done with visuals from The Holy Mountain. And then just some more Blonde Redhead music videos. They are a band from New York, together since 1993. They have songs in english, french, italian and japanese. They have had producers from members of both Sonic Youth and Fugazi. I have liked this band since I was 15.

Hasisi Park

Hasisi Park is a photographer and filmmaker. Currently she lives in London, though was born in Korea. She has been commissioned by big names like converse and urban outfitters, and recently by 01 magazine (online magazine out of Vancouver, BC). The last photo I put in because it is a christmas card to her two favourite artists, one of them being Roger Ballen, which I have posted some of his photos too. I look forward to seeing more projects by her!

a gothic craft

I made this totally gothic looking craft today. The photograph was taken by Eli Hirtle (we made the print in my sisters darkroom). And the frame, I made today. It’s burnt wood! Moooi, a furniture company I love, has a collection of burnt furniture including chairs, a chandelier, a dresser and a grandfather clock.

Spring/ Summer Mociun collection. I like all these prints, a lot. The messy stripe one also comes in black and orange! The jewelry the designer made this year is all metal, made to look like diamonds and gems. I hope to see this line sold up here in Vancouver soon!

This nuts camera is being developed, soon to be released to the public, by Microsoft research, of Cambridge, UK. It is a small camera intended to wear around your neck that takes pictures automatically every 30 seconds, as well as when it senses a change in environment around you.
